Vernacular architecture has always grown per the needs of its place, it’s people and its culture. While the growth of vernacular architecture was truly indicative of its place, technological advances have created an architecture that is no longer suggestive of its place. When architecture has no grounding, what meaning does it truly hold for the place it is in? For the place it is supposed to represent?
Architecture cannot truly be unless it is integrated with its place. Without a thorough understanding of a place’s history, it’s people, the climate, culture, and other environmental aspects of that place, your architecture cannot truly be impactful.
For any architectural design to be truly successful, it must not only be aesthetically pleasing, environmentally conscience, and structurally sound, but also designed with the entire environment considered. Architecture must be integrated with its place. Without a thorough understanding of a place’s history, it’s people, the climate, culture, and other environmental aspects of that place, architecture cannot truly be impactful.
